Sydney Opera House
The white billowing sails of a ship proudly holding its head high is one of the most recognizable and striking buildings in the world. Situated on Bennelong Point, designed by the Danish architect Jorn Utzon, the Sydney Opera House is a major hub for the performing arts. Inside the house you can enjoy opera, classical music, dance and rock concerts. Free performances are held outside the building on Sunday afternoons. Officially opened by Her Majesty Queen Elisabeth II in the year 1973, the Sydney Opera House is a UNESCO World Heritage building.
Sydney Harbour Bridge
How can you miss out "The Coathanger" in Australia? Sydney Harbour Bridge is the largest steel arch bridge in the world with its top standing as high as 134m above the harbour. You can have a walk, enjoy a bicycle ride or else be adventurous and climb the bridge to have a look at the breathtaking views. The southern pylon is for tourists.
Circular Quay
Close to Sydney Opera House is the Circular Quay, a bustling area of shops, bars and restaurants. Circular Quay is located at the northern boundary of the Sydney central business district (CBD) in Sydney, at a small inlet called Sydney Cove. Circular Quay is a vivacious place full of actions with ferries leaving every few minutes to different parts of the harbour. Here you can be on the water to experience the magic of Sydney or simply glance through the hub of Sydney Harbour. You can get a great view of the Harbour Bridge, a little distance away.
Milson Point/ Luna Park
Another landmark of Sydney is the Luna Park. This historical theme park was opened in 1935. Located at Milsons Point, on the northern coast of Sydney Harbour this heritage-listed park has witnessed all – from changes of ownership, legal battles, to community action in both support of and opposition to Luna Park, resulting in its multiple closures. Luna Park Sydney is now the premier theme park in Sydney and remains open from Fridays to Mondays.
Enjoy a free entry to the park only to soak up the atmosphere and experience the magnificent views.
Hyde Park Barracks
